Each week, Baltimore Beatdown polls Ravens fans on a whole host of topics. Today, we’re going with just one. Are you confident in the Ravens heading in the right direction?
The Positives
The Baltimore Ravens stand at 7-4 and are on the precipice of all but confirming a playoff spot. Currently, they hold the second Wildcard spot.
According to NFL.com, they boast a 95% playoff probability. The Athletic puts them at 94%. With a win on Monday Night Football over the Los Angeles Chargers, they jump to 99% playoff probability. Even with a loss, NFL.com drops them to just 91%.
The Ravens possess one of the most potent offenses in football. Their defense appears to be rounding a corner after benching safety Marcus Williams and Eddie Jackson and playing Kyle Hamilton and Ar’Darius Washington as deep safeties in their stead. The pass rush has shown strides after struggling in the early portion.
The Ravens aren’t being victimized by other teams. They boast a roster chock-full of talent, full stop.
The Negatives
The Ravens are defeating themselves in similar fashion to years prior. Their losses are reminiscent of their own demise, which makes them untrustworthy. And while Head Coach is a top-tier head coach, his team cannot overcome the ones at or above his level in the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The special teams unit is struggling. Be it Justin Tucker, a handful of snaps from Nick Moore and the return units.
Their greatest issue is self-inflicted wounds. The penalties that are crippling the team from reaching their potential.
All of these issues are things they can remedy. They can fix the penalties. They can solve their own flaws. They have the talent and the ability to do so. But will they?
