The Ravens finished up the preseason last Saturday going just 1-2 in their three games. While most of the roster is set, there were still roster spots to be had as players fought hard during training camp and during preseason games to show the Ravens brass why they deserve to make the final 53-man roster. The focus has shifted to September 5th against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Ravens coaches will first have to make some tough decisions as they round out the teams final roster.
With the roster being cut from 90 to the final 53 lets predict the Ravens final 2024 53-man roster.
Quarterbacks (2)
QB: Lamar Jackson
QB: Josh Johnson
The Ravens will keep their standard two quarterbacks with Josh Johnson showing enough to backup Lamar Jackson. Their was little competition between Johnson and rookies Devin Leary and Emory Jones. Leary’s disappointing preseason will keep him off the 53-man roster, but should be a strong candidate to make the practice squad.
Running Backs (3)
RB: Derrick Henry
RB: Justice Hill
RB: John Kelly Jr.
The top two backs were no brainers as Derrick Henry gets set for hit first season in Baltimore, while Justice Hill looks to spell Henry at times. With Keaton Mitchell sidelined for most of the first half of the season as he continues to recover with a torn ACL, the Ravens will go with veteran back John Kelly Jr. who was with the Cleveland Browns last season. Second year running back Owen Wright who looked like the frontrunner for the third running back spot suffered a broken foot in the Ravens preseason finale. A veteran free agent is also not out of the question.
Fullbacks (1)
FB: Patrick Ricard
Not much to say here other then it should be fun watching Ricard pave the way for Derrick Henry in 2024.
Tight Ends (3)
TE: Mark Andrews
TE: Charlie Kolar
TE: Isaiah Likely
Arguably the Ravens most consistent group, the tight end room of Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, and Charlie Kolar will look to lead the way in the passing game for an offense that hopes to be back near the top in 2024.
Wide Receivers (6)
WR: Zay Flowers
WR: Nelson Agholor
WR: Rashod Bateman
WR: Deonte Harty
WR: Devontez Walker
WR: Tylan Wallace
Zay Flowers, Rashad Bateman, and Nelson Agholor were locks to make the team heading into the preseason, but beyond that it was a lot of unknown. Tylan Wallace’s strong preseason as secured his spot as well as his ability in the return game. Deonte Harty factors into the return game as well, and while he will rarely if at all play receiver his roster spot should be secured because of special teams. Devontez Walker struggled largely due to injuries suffered in training camp, but it would be a shocker to see Walker cut seeing as he was a fourth-round selection, and it would be nearly impossible to stash Walker on the practice squad. Veteran Anthony Miller and undrafted rookie Dayton Wade both made a strong cases to make the final roster, but the numbers do not seem to work in their favor.
Offensive Line (10)
G: Ben Cleveland
G: Andrew Vorhees
G/C/T: Patrick Mekari
C: Tyler Linderbaum
C: Nick Samac
T: Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu
T: Ronnie Stanley
T: Daniel Faalele
T: Roger Rosengarten
T: Josh Jones
The Ravens offensive line has been the biggest question mark heading into the season. With center Tyler Linderbaum and left tackle Ronnie Stanley the only two returning starters. Guard Andrew Vorhees who is in line to start after missing his entrier rookie season last year with a torn ACL, as well as rookie Roger Rosengarten is expected to be the starting right tackle come week one. Ben Cleveland who had a strong preseason played a lot of center as well as guard, while veteran Patrick Mekari could fill in at the other guard position opposite of Vorhees. Center Nick Samac who was injured in the final preseason game should also make the final roster depending on the severity of his injury, as the backup to Linderbaum. Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu and Daniel Faalele add depth with both having the ability to play tackle and guard.
Secondary (12)
S: Kyle Hamilton
S: Marcus Williams
S: Beau Brade
S: Eddie Jackson
S: Sanoussi Kane
DB: Ar’Darius Washington
CB: Arthur Maulet
CB: T.J. Tampa
CB: Marlon Humphrey
CB: Brandon Stephens
CB: Jalyn Armour-Davis
CB: Nate Wiggins
Probably the deepest and best position group top to bottom is the Ravens secondary. Safeties Kyle Hamilton, Marcus Williams, Eddie Jackson, along with cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, and rookie first-round pick Nate Wiggins all expected to be key pieces in 2024. Third-year cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis had his first health preseason in his career and showed why he also could be a contributor in the secondary. Safety Sanoussi Kane and cornerback T.J. Tampa both missed portions of training camp with injury should have spot roles in 2024. Arthur Maulet who had his knee scoped will miss the start of the regular season, but will be placed on IR with a designation to return meaning he must make the finale 53-man roster before being placed on IR. With that being the case Daryl Worley, Bump Cooper Jr., Ka’dar Hollman, and Damarion Williams could all be in line to stay on the team until Maulet returns. The story of the preseason however came from this group as Maryland product, safety Beau Brade, will look to become the next in line of undrafted Ravens rookies to make the final roster. Brade had an outstanding preseason and should make it hard for Ravens coaches to see him go from this team.
Linebackers (8)
LB: Malik Harrison
LB: Roquan Smith
LB: Trenton Simpson
OLB: Tavius Robinson
OLB: Odafe Oweh
OLB: David Ojabo
OLB: Kyle Van Noy
OLB: Adisa Isaac
The Ravens will rely on some young guys to push this group as Trenton Simpson takes over for Patrick Queen alongside Roquan Smith, and Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo look to have breakout seasons at pass rusher. Kyle Van Noy adds a veteran presence and will look to build on a career year last season, while Tavius Robinson will look to carve out a larger role in his second year. Rookie Adisa Isaac is the newest member of this group, but will need to stay healthy something he struggled to do this preseason to find any kind of playtime in 2024.
Defensive Line (5)
DE: Brent Urban
DT: Justin Madubuike
DT: Broderick Washington
DT: Travis Jones
DT: Michael Pierce
Justin Madubuike will look to replicate his impressive 2023 season alongside Travis Jones and Michael Pierce, two strong run stuffing defenders. Broderick Washington and Brent Urban add depth to a strong position group that look to cause fits for opposing offensive lines.
Specialists (3)
LS: Nick Moore
K: Justin Tucker
P: Jordan Stout
Not much of a surprise here as Stout and Tucker will take over the kicking duties all year. While long snapper Nick Moore returns after suffering a torn Achilles last season.
