The New England Patriots continue bolstering their offense and select running back Treveyon Henderson in this year’s draft. According to reports, quarterback Drake Maye may have gotten his long-term answer in the backfield, but this means the Patriots will probably trade Rhamondre Stevenson. The running back hasn’t had much discussion about his future, which is why one source believes the Patriots could trade him in a surprise fashion. With Jerod Mayo gone as head coach, the Patriots are heading in another direction, and it wouldn’t make sense if the team keeps him around.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Oklahoma product began to break out in his rookie season, recording 606 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 12 games after a few slow starts. Stevenson isn’t the most impressive target for NFL teams to go after, but he could be a viable backup for rosters that need him. After being a backup to former running back Damien Harris, Stevenson did show some promise that he could thrive finding the holes and running it up the middle. The running back has been slow these past two back-to-back seasons despite pairing with veteran Ezekiel Elliott in one of them, and the Patriots had to find their long-term running back.
New head coach Mike Vrabel and New England might have found their guy, so they could trade Stevenson to these five teams.

Next Possible Teams
New Orleans Saints
Alvin Kamara is one of the league’s best running backs, but he’s going to need help on this depleted offense. After losing quarterback Derek Carr, the Saints could rely on the ground game to win most of their football matchups. Despite that, New Orleans could depend on their defense, but to give them more chances to win, they should improve the run game. Kendre Miller is nowhere near a high level, so perhaps Stevenson could provide some relief.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders could use a running back themselves. Austin Ekeler is on for two years, and Brian Robinson Jr. hasn’t been doing anything special last 2024 campaign. The team can’t depend on quarterback Jayden Daniels forever, as opposing defenses will figure him out, so that means they should run the football more often.
Los Angeles Chargers
Despite drafting Omarion Hampton, the Los Angeles Chargers could use another veteran running back to help Najee Harris. Hampton might be the future, but Stevenson provides short-term relief if they don’t want to use Harris as much. Jim Harbaugh loves to run the football, and Stevenson and Harris could be a perfect duo while Hampton develops.
Carolina Panthers
After signing Rico Dowdle, the Carolina Panthers should get another running back, since it might take longer for Jonathan Brooks to return. Chuba Hubbard is turning into a potential elite runner, but like any running back, he needs a capable backup, and Stevenson is the answer if Dowdle leaves again in 2026.
Baltimore Ravens
Derrick Henry needs a backup in the worst way. It’s not possible that the Patriots will trade Stevenson to an AFC team, but at the right price, they could. Keaton Mitchell has high hopes, but they need an answer now, and Stevenson could provide that insurance.
