After a disastrous stint with the Baltimore Ravens, wide receiver Diontae Johnson has landed with the Houston Texans. Johnson, a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, originally entered the league with the Pittsburgh Steelers but has also played for the Carolina Panthers.

Texans Sign Diontae Johnson Following Ravens Release
The 2024 season has been a wild one for Diontae Johnson, as he now joins his fourth team in the past calendar year. Entering the offseason on an expiring contract with Pittsburgh, the team traded him to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson. Needing a receiver to support 2023 first-overall pick Bryce Young, Carolina hoped Johnson could bring out the best in the Alabama product. While he recorded a respectable 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns during his seven games with the team, the Panthers decided he wasn’t a part of their long-term plans and sent him to the Ravens at the trade deadline.
This proved to be a mistake for Baltimore. Acquired to be a depth piece in the offense, Johnson recorded just one reception for six yards during his four games with the club. The low point of his tenure came in Week 13’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles when he reportedly refused to enter the game. The Ravens suspended him for one game before deciding the relationship could not be salvaged. The team cut him on Friday and will move forward with their current group of receivers.
Johnson’s best years came during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After an impressive 680-yard rookie season, Diontae Johnson recorded three straight seasons with at least 880 receiving yards, including a 1,162-yard 2021 that earned him a spot on the Pro Bowl roster. Since entering the league, the wide receiver has played in 88 games while making 75 starts. While on the field, Johnson has recorded 422 receptions for 4,726 yards and 28 touchdowns.
