A stunning scenario in Baltimore County — a car stolen with children inside the vehicle — a brazen crime that has residents concerned over what happened.
“How you going to get in the car with kids…and you like, turn your back, come on you like there are kids in the car. You should have a little conscience and [say] this [is] not the right thing to do,” said Emmanuel Azez.
Baltimore County police say it happened on Liberty Road near Milford Mill Road just before 4 p.m. Friday—a stolen vehicle, reportedly a Mercedes SUV with two children under the age of 10 inside.
Officers scrambled to the scene in the area of the Liberty Pizza and Subs shop. Next door at the hair salon, Asha Hall was alarmed by the news.
“It’s traumatizing. Imagine the kids must be traumatized by this event,” said Hall.
“Honestly, as a mother, that would, there’s nothing worse than that. That would scare me. I don’t know what I would do. And it’s horrible that people are just that evil,” she added.
For now, police are releasing few details but say the children have been located and are safe.
“The kids are safe, that’s the good part. No kids were harmed, no kids were killed, they’re safe,” said Azez.
Police say this remains an active and open investigation.
Meanwhile, for Hall, questions linger: “My question is, were (suspect/suspects) arrested, where are they coming from? How old were they, are we talking about children?”
