To finish off the 2023 NFL Regular Season, Lamar Jackson added another award to his countless list of accolades. Lamar was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December earlier today. This is Jackson’s third AFC Player of the Month honor, and his first since September of 2022.
Lamar threw for 1,060 yards, 11 passing touchdowns, 247 rushing yards, and had a passer rating of 114.5 in his four games of December. The Ravens went 4-0 in those games, with wins over the Rams, Jaguars, 49ers, and Dolphins. Of those four teams, three are now in the Playoffs, and have a combined 42-26 record on the year. This was easily the toughest 4-game stretch of the year for Baltimore. Jackson didn’t seem to care, as he went through it with ease.
The awards didn’t stop there for Lamar. He was also voted “Team MVP” for the Ravens, as well as NFLPA All-Pro First Team.
Before the 49ers game the MVP race was a toss-up between Lamar Jackson, Christian McCaffery, and Dak Prescott. But Lamar’s final two games solidified him as the MVP frontrunner. According to BetUS Sportsbook, Jackson is now the favorite at -20000 odds, with Prescott in second at +1800 odds. It is very possible Lamar could be the first player in NFL history to win two unanimous MVPs. The only other player to win a unanimous MVP is Tom Brady in 2010.
If Lamar Jackson isn’t your MVP after all of this, then you must be watching a different game.
