When the Baltimore Ravens lost Mark Andrews to an ankle injury during the Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals week 11 most of Baltimore panicked. Backup tight end Isaiah Likely has shown glimpses before but has never had a long period of time as the Ravens number one tight end target. Likely originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, 139 overall out of Coastal Carolina.
So far this season Likely has 28 receptions for 380 yards and four touchdowns, two of which game against the Miami Dolphins. Likely has shown great speed and hands that fans that follow the Ravens fans that follow the team have all known about. Maybe it was Gregg Roman’s failure to utilize any receiving talent that kept Likely hidden.
Depth has helped the Ravens become a dominating force in the NFL and having a backup tight end like Likely show he is more than a capable starter has really helped the Ravens. Andrews has an outside chance of returning to the Ravens in the post season. Even if Andrews returns I can see Likely still getting plenty of targets and playing time.
