The Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to their practice squad on Monday. The Washington D.C. native and former Maryland Terp returns to the Ravens after spending the last half of the 2020 season in Baltimore.
The Ravens acquired Ngakoue from the Vikings in 2020 sending a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth-round pick in return for Ngakoue. In nine games with the Ravens Ngakoue had three sacks, 11 total tackles, and three quarterback hits.
The trade wasn’t the blockbuster move the Ravens were looking for and allowed Ngakoue to walk that offseason as he signed a two-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2021 season. Ngakoue would go on to play for Indianapolis in 2022, before joining the Bears for the 2023 season where a broken ankle in week 14 ended his season.
Since his time in Baltimore Ngakoue has totaled 23.5 sacks to go along with 79 total tackles.
Ngakoue joins Odafe Oweh, Kyle Van Noy, David Ojabo, and Tavius Robinson at outside linebacker and adds depth to the position that desperately needed it. Ngakoue first stink in Baltimore may not have gone as well as many would have hoped, but hopefully under defensive coordinator Zach Orr and the ability for Ngakoue to be a true pass rusher, his second stint with the Ravens will go much better.
