Baltimore Ravens free agent wide receiver Tylan Wallace wants to return this upcoming offseason. According to multiple reports, the wideout hopes to be a part of the Ravens’ offense in the future. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Oklahoma State product spent the entirety with the team hoping to establish in the offense but the Ravens mainly used him as a special teams player. Since the Ravens will be in the market for a new veteran wideout, it would make sense for both parties to part ways since he doesn’t contribute much to Lamar Jackson’s passing game.
Baltimore finally got Wallace in the mix last season after catching his first touchdown but that might be his last in a Raven uniform. Even though they are looking for superstar help, it means they won’t prioritize signing him to a new contract anytime soon. He’ll likely test the free agent market and see if he can establish himself with a roster that needs a wide receiver. Wallace is still young and capable to win contested catches and be a speedster for several teams but the Ravens have a championship roster that wants to help Jackson to his first ring.
Nelson Agholor will also become a free agent but they will most likely bring him back if their plans of finding a veteran wideout fail. DeVontez Walker is still developing so it makes sense to keep him as the WR4 to learn behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Agholor. However, Wallace could surprisingly have a market in free agency.
Wide Receiver Free Agent Tylan Wallace Has Door Open for Return – Saints, Panthers, Chargers Could Intervene
New Weapons in NOLA
The New Orleans Saints do not have the salary cap to make big moves this upcoming offseason. Since Derek Carr refuses to take a pay cut, the Saints must get creative about their spending. General Manager Mickey Loomis has to swallow that ego and create a plan for the team to get a few weapons in the lineup to help Carr succeed in this offense. Earlier this season, the Saints brought in Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a low-stakes deal that worked out for him.
No guarantee that might happen again but perhaps it could with a wide receiver like Wallace. There’s no word on if Chris Olave will return but the reality is that Rashid Shaheed will need help in the aerial attack to get open. Wallace doesn’t need to be the full-time guy but someone to create separation and possibly be a consistent target for Carr.
Helping Bryce Young
Meanwhile, the Panthers are holding their breath yet again for a different outcome for quarterback Bryce Young. After failing to get some capable receivers last offseason, the Panthers have a new life out of Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker. However, these men are not going to make the team competitive anytime soon. Wallace might not make much of a difference but he could establish and be built upon.
The New Replacements
As for the Chargers, this offense should be looking to get Justin Herbert in the best position for the postseason. While they’ll likely acquire a new superstar receiver, they should look for new weapons to help fill the depth chart in the back end. Since DJ Chark and Joshua Palmer are leaving, they should put second-year Ladd McConkey to succeed with someone like Wallace in the slant route.
