When the Ravens activated cornerback Arthur Maulet from injured reserve, linebacker Josh Ross was waived to make room. It was noted the Ravens had room on their practice squad if he cleared and they were hoping to have him back. Instead, Seattle stepped in.
This reunites Ross with Mike Macdonald, who was the defensive coordinator when Ross made the Ravens 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie in 2022. He made the roster had a good chance at significant playing time next to Patrick Queen but got injured in Week 2. After that, Ross was behind Roquan Smith and Queen, both every down players. The same story followed in 2023 when Ross didn’t make the roster and spent the year on the practice squad. In 2024, Ross was stuck behind Trenton Simpson stepping in.
Now Ross will have a chance to earn defensive snaps with Macdonald as Seattle tries to figure out their linebacker situation, a room where they also just made a trade the same day.
