Lamar Jackson misses the first practice of Week 2
UPDATED @ 3:41 p.m. ET
Head Coach John Harbaugh declined to answer the reason for Jackson’s absence.
“Yeah, we had a number of guys who were not out there. Some personal, some physical,” Harbaugh said. “So, injury report comes out Wednesday afternoon so you’ll be better advised on that day.”
On Monday, the Ravens uncommonly allowed media to view practice. Traditionally, Monday’s are only for presser availability with Head Coach John Harbaugh. But, with extra viewing, it was who we did not see on the field that will draw headlines as quarterback Lamar Jackson was absent.
It’s worth noting Jackson was on the field hours prior as the today was team picture day and he was shown on the field in a post from the team’s social media account.

Along with Jackson, a handful of others were not present.
Ravens Absences
- QB Lamar Jackson
- WR Deonte Harty
- CB Nate Wiggins
- OLB Adisa Isaac (hamstring)
- OLB Kyle Van Noy (fractured orbital bone)
Speculating, but Jackson may have been held out due to taking numerous hits on Thursday night. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jackson was tackled 13 times as a runner, hit twice in the backfield as a passer and sacked once. There’s a chance he’s just sore.
Harbaugh is scheduled to speak with reporters today at 3 p.m., and no doubt the first question will be about Jackson’s absence.
