The Baltimore Ravens made their first signing of the offseason as they re-signed wide receiver Nelson Agholor to a one-year deal on Sunday. The Ravens and Agholor needed to reach an extension by 4 P.M. on Monday otherwise the 30-yeard old receiver would have become a free agent.
Agholor signed with the Ravens last offseason, and while it wasn’t a career year for Agholor, he became an efficient third option for quarterback Lamar Jackson. Agholor played in all 17 games for the Ravens racking up 35 catches on 45 targets while totaling 381 receiving yards, and for touchdowns.
Agholor helped rejuvenate a Baltimore receiving core that has long looked for consistent production, and will once again look to be that consistent player as the Ravens will have some turnover at the wide receiver position. 2023 rookie Zay Flowers is seemingly the only guarantee to return to lineup next season, as the Ravens seem unlikely to use the fifth-year option on fellow receiver Rashod Batman, leaving his future in Baltimore in doubt. Odell Beckham Jr. is also not a lock to return in 2023, although the veteran receiver has expressed interest in retuning to the Ravens.
Agholor becomes the first signing in a laundry list of pending free agents for the Ravens. The Ravens and GM Eric DeCosta will plenty of tough decisions to make as they look to form their roster for the 2024 season.
