To make room on the 53-man roster, the Baltimore Ravens waived sixth-round pick Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu
Late Monday night, reports announced the Baltimore Ravens signed pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue from the practice squad to their active roster. With their roster at 53 players after activating rookie running back Rasheen Ali on Saturday, they needed to make a coinciding move. According to the team, they waived former 2023 sixth-round pick Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu.
‘Sala’ was pick No. 199 for the Ravens in 2023 and was expected to develop into a starting guard. In his rookie season, he contended with veteran John Simpson for the starting role, but lost the starting gig after struggling in consecutive preseason games. In his sophomore season, Aumavae-Laulu further regressed to third-team as seventh-round offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees took over as the starting guard to begin the season. He finished with seven special teams snaps in two games, both in 2024.
The Ravens also announced they’ve cut cornerback Damarion “Pepe” Williams from their practice squad, a week after bringing him back. Williams, a former 2022 fourth-round pick, was a part of the Ravens’ cuts this year as they set their initial 53-man roster. They now have two open spots on their practice squad.
