The Ravens have waived pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to likely make room for running back Keaton Mitchell
Prior to the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 10 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team has made a move to free up another roster spot. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has been waived with the hopes of getting him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
The purpose of freeing a roster spot is with the expectation of the Ravens adding running back Keaton Mitchell to the active roster. He’s been a full participant in practice the past two weeks and has looked exceptionally better than his first practice return.
Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said this week Keaton Mitchell could play, but did so without wanting to reveal any competitive information.
“There’s a chance,” Harbaugh said. “There’s always a chance.’’
Last season, Mitchell was a dynamo for the Ravens’ rushing offense, delivering 396 yards and two touchdowns on 47 carries for an astounding 8.4 yards per carry. He added another threat in the receiving game, too, with 93 yards on nine receptions. If he can return to form, he’d be a lethal addition to the Ravens’ rushing game, and also screen game, where Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken has greatly improved the Ravens’ offense with the incorporation of effective screens.
