Biggest movers after 41-31 win in Tampa Bay.
In Week 7, on Monday Night Football in Tampa Bay, the Baltimore Ravens annihilated a very good Buccaneers squad with another dominant offensive display. The Ravens fell behind to Tampa 10-0, but then proceeded to score 34 consecutive points, stringing together a number of turnovers and highlight touchdowns. The Ravens scored 41 points for the second time in three weeks and amassed over 500 yards of offense. While the Ravens offense is clearly one of, if not the best unit in the league, their defense once again left something to be desired. Let’s look at some of the biggest risers and fallers after Baltimore’s fifth straight victory.
Stock up
Lamar Jackson, QB
It didn’t seem like Lamar Jackson could’ve improved upon his performances in the previous two weeks. He shredded the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Commanders defenses in back-to-back weeks and seemed due for a regression game against an experienced defense. This couldn’t have been further from the truth. The reigning MVP put together a “Jackson 5” and picked apart a helpless Tampa Bay defense with a near perfect passer rating (158.1). Jackson is the best player in the NFL at the moment and will look to continue his incredible season vs. the Browns next week.
Derrick Henry, RB
Henry and Jackson have been mainstays in the weekly stock report and at this rate, might not be able to go any higher. Even in the games Henry has looked somewhat bottled up, he still finds a way to put up monster stats and break one or two long runs. Henry leads the league in every meaningful rushing statistic and continues to be the closer for Baltimore. After another 150+ yard performance, Henry looks like the front runner for Offensive Player of the Year through seven weeks.
Mark Andrews, TE
Andrews has been able to shake off a slow start to the season, finding endzone twice against Tampa Bay. Whether it was the result of lingering injuries or otherwise, Ravens fans and coaches must be thrilled to see Lamar Jackson’s right-hand man find his groove again.
Marlon Humphry, CB
Humphrey is having a career year for the Ravens. After notching two interceptions on a familiar foe, Baker Mayfield, Humphrey left the game with a knee injury that is reportedly not serious. Humphrey has regained his Pro-Bowl form this year and is second in the NFL in interceptions.
Rashod Bateman, WR
What a great year it’s been for Rashod Bateman. After signing an extension in the offseason, Bateman has finally started to gain chemistry with Lamar Jackson with his best game in years occurring on Monday Night. Bateman and Jackson connected multiple times, including a 59 yard bomb in the third quarter that blew the game open. With Flowers and Bateman, the Ravens now have two very capable receivers who can win on the outside.
Stock down
Pass rush
The Ravens pass rush was largely non-existent on Monday Night which allowed Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers offense to go up and down the field throughout the game. Although the Buccaneers offensive stats were slightly inflated by the game script, the Ravens failed to get pressure, allowing a number of big plays to Tampa.
Pass defense
The problems on the Ravens backend have officially become a major concern. The Ravens got burned multiple times, often a result of miscommunications and blown coverages. The Baltimore defense has struggled with every opponent expect for the Bills and look like a complete shell of the defense that led the NFL in multiple categories last season. While Zach Orr is still young and inexperienced, his runway is getting shorter by the day. The defense has too many talented player makers to allow opponents to walk them up and down the field. The Ravens legendary offense will continue to carry the team, but the lack of improvement on the defense will continue to be a concern.
