The Ravens third-year defensive tackle says he slowed up on the highlight hit on Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen
In Week 4, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was on the receiving end of one of the more bone-crushing hits of the season. As he was strip-sacked by outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and thrown off-balance, 338-pound defensive tackle Travis Jones, moving 12.62 miles per hour, caught him with his shoulder and forearm. A split-second after impact, Allen was blasted to the turf.
Travis Jones is 6-foot-4, 338 pounds. He was running 12.62 mph at Josh Allen just before this hit, per @NextGenStats.

On Wednesday, Jones was asked if he’s ever hit a quarterback as hard as he hit Allen.
“No, I [haven’t]. That was fun,” Jones said, chuckling.
Looking back though, Jones admitted he slowed up on the impact, but wished he’d gone full-force.
“Yeah, it was all over Twitter. I wish I could have hit him a little harder,” Jones said. “I did [slow up before the hit], yeah. I did a little bit.”
According to Twitter/X user @ChrisRagonesi2, the delivery of Jones’ hit was nearly three times the force of being struck by a heavyweight boxer.
I’ve got you.
F = MA
JA, at roughly 240 lbs or 108kg.
He goes from ~5 mph est, to a relative negative 10mph, based on Jones. -15 mph in ~.25 secs based on the film… 6.7 mps * 4 = 26.8 m/s/s
F = 108 kg * 26.8 —> 3k N
Heavyweight boxers, on a reduced area, hit < 1k N

Whether the math is perfect, the film alone shows it’s in everybody’s best interest, on or off the field, to not mess with the Ravens’ ascending defensive tackle.
