The Baltimore Ravens kicker was accused of sexual misconduct in a news article Thursday.
Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker was accused of sexual assault and other allegations on Thursday. If you’re looking for news and coverage of that, please head over to our news-related piece.
Obviously, the health and well being of all the parties is the top priority, but if the Ravens or NFL suspend Tucker, or if he is outright released from the team, there will also be contractual issues to contend with.
We’ve received no indication that the Ravens or NFL are leaning in any direction and they seem to be in the information-gathering stage at this time.
Will Justin Tucker be suspended for sexual conduct allegations?
We don’t have enough information at this time to know if the Ravens will suspend Tucker, though they have said in the past that they have a “zero-tolerance” policy mentioned in the initial report.
Players can be suspended by the NFL under the league’s personal conduct policy, but during an investigation like this, players are typically allowed to keep playing. Then-Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt list and still received paychecks while being investigated, but that doesn’t qualify as a “suspension”. Once the investigation finished, he was suspended for 11 games, but we have no way of knowing how this investigation will play out.
If he is suspended for the allegations, how much will it cost Justin Tucker?
Watson was fined $5 million as part of his punishment. In addition to any fine, Tucker would lose game checks for any game he missed due to suspension. In 2025 or 2026, that is roughly $250,000 per week.
While on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, he would still be paid as normal. It does not count as a suspension.
What would it cost to release Justin Tucker after the allegations?
Tucker has no more guaranteed money remaining on his contract, so the Ravens wouldn’t owe him any money from here on out. A suspension could have violated the morals clause in a contract, voiding the guaranteed money anyway.
He has $7.5 million remaining in dead cap — money that has been paid but accounted for on the salary cap — but since his cap hit in 2025 is already close to $7.1 million, his overall cap number would only go up by $445,000 if released.
Baltimore could also choose to designate him as a Post-June 1 release, which would shift $4.65 million of the dead cap into 2026 on June 1, 2025.
When is the next deadline for a Justin Tucker roster move?
Because the Ravens’ season is over, it’s likely the Ravens won’t officially release Tucker (if they decide to do so) until the start of the new league year in March. They could announce his release and not file the paperwork until March, though. Placing him on the Commissioner’s Exempt list can happen at any point, however.
