Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn made a lot of offseason moves in 2024 to prepare the team for the season. Some of that included drafting Jayden Daniels, but some of it was signing several one-year contracts to get the right pieces in the right places.
Now that the Super Bowl has been played and the season is over, the Commanders have a slew of free agents they’ll have to decide if they want to keep or let go. Recently, CBS Sports released Pete Prisco’s Top 100 free agents for 2025, and five impending Commanders’ free agents made the list: Bobby Wagner, Dyami Brown, Zach Ertz, Jeremy Chinn, and Dante Fowler.
If the Commanders are smart, they’ll nail down Bobby Wagner and Jeremy Chinn well before free agency opens on March 12 at 4 pm EDT. Keeping Ertz is only a priority if they decide Ben Sinnott is not quite ready. It wouldn’t be surprising if Fowler were back in D.C. next season.
The Commanders will want to keep as many of their current players as they deem necessary to maintain the current cohesion of the team. They won’t be able to keep everyone, of course, and new players will be brought in, but if they can carry a core set of guys from this season into 2025, they’ll have a jump on the rest of the league to start the season.
