Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson is staying in Detroit. Screw any journalistic tones, I’m writing this blog angry.
I was told things would be different. I was told the franchise would be able to make all the right moves and change the tenor of how things are around the beltway. I, along with every other Washington fan, was promised that the gut-wrenching, soul-eating feelings that came with the Dan Snyder era would be done away with and in short order. WELL WHERE THE HELL ARE THOSE PROMISES NOW?!
Before I get in too deep, I get it when it comes to Johnson’s side of things. A heartbreaking loss in the NFC championship game and a much better overall situation within the franchise makes a whole hell of a lot of sense to stick around and try and take care of unfinished business. However, we all know money talks, so where’s the checkbook Josh Harris? Where’s the offer he can’t refuse? Johnson was the favorite for a reason – he was the best option out there.
Unlike Eric Bieniemy, Ben Johnson actually emphasizes the run game with his offense. Also, Jared Goff said in an interview that Johnson listens to players and adjusts towards what works and away from what doesn’t. That’s the perfect kind of attitude that can affect a better culture throughout the whole organization! I actually had hope that we were going in the right direction. I even let the news about no name change go without effect because I had hope everything else would be falling into place and that would get taken care of in due time. All I have now is the same dumbass name and an empty head coach position and no idea who is going to fill it and what they’ll bring to the table.
Same old Washington, same old poverty F****** franchise. Please excuse me while I go break this laptop into a million tiny pieces now.
