The Washington Commanders are having a huge 2024 turnaround season but Noah Brown will become a free agent and Chiefs, Chargers could sign him in March. According to Bleacher Report, one reporter believes Brown could sign with the Baltimore Ravens after the season to help the inconsistent passing game despite trading for Diontae Johnson. The chances of that happening are high considering the Ravens haven’t seen any progress from Johnson, especially suspending him for one game since sitting out for the matchup against the Eagles without a reason. Brown may not be on the same level as most superstar wide receivers but enough to be a rotational wideout in crucial moments for Lamar Jackson.
Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product carved himself as a dependable option in a roster’s passing game after leaving the Dallas Cowboys and signing with the Texans to prove his worth. Brown was responsible for getting C.J. Stroud on a fast start and he’s doing the same for the Jayden Daniels in Washington. However, he has a few issues like dropping balls and drawing easy penalties which is holding him back from becoming a long-term No. 2 receiver.
Brown is seeing plenty of field in Washington as he’s been helping Daniels’s rookie year nicely. It may not be enough for the Commanders to sign him on a new deal since they’ll be looking for a new high-level wideout next to Terry McLaurin. Washington is experimenting and Brown may be just a test subject but he could easily sign a one-year deal with a contender and play his best despite any role he receives.
Chiefs, Chargers Could Sign Noah Brown as a Free Agent Next Year
Helping Mahomes
After winning the division in a doink, the Kansas City Chiefs went through adversity in their passing game this season despite losing just one matchup. However, they traded for DeAndre Hopkins to help the deep threat for Patrick Mahomes since losing Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown in one season. Brown may make his return but there’s no guarantee of that happening especially if he becomes a free agent this upcoming offseason. Mahomes has been struggling to connect with rookie Xavier Worthy so the only weapon they have is new addition Hopkins even though he’s on an expiring contract.
Since Travis Kelce looks more like he’ll retire after this year, the Chiefs are better off getting a few one-year deal wide receivers this upcoming free agency. The draft is a solid place but they have enough inexperienced talent on their receiving corps that they need answers immediately. Noah Brown won’t be a superstar in Kansas City but his size and agility could be efficient for Mahomes to throw it out to him and make those contested catches. It might take some trial and error but it’s a significant upgrade from JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore.
Longevity in Los Angeles
Despite losing two AFC matchups against the Ravens and Chiefs this season, the Los Angeles Chargers are easily a real dark horse roster coming to this playoffs. However, chances are that they may have found consistency in their pass game but it might be enough to reel in a deep run in the postseason. Noah Brown could become the best third man behind Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer, barring any circumstance of the Chargers not re-signing Palmer to a new deal. However, Brown would be the better upgrade from DJ Chark who is yet to show he could be consistent.
Chark is on an expiring contract as well but the Chargers are leaning more towards extending Palmer. Justin Herbert is one of the best throwers in the league and Noah Brown is already showing a lot of progress in Washington. He could replicate that same energy with a more experienced team and a signal-caller ready to hoist the Super Bowl sooner rather than later.
