Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett made it clear he wanted a trade after the 2024 NFL season. Immediately, everyone began to pick their favorite landing spot for Garrett in 2025.
The only problem is the Browns haven’t made Garrett available. Cleveland does not want to trade its star pass rusher, arguably the NFL’s top defensive player.
However, one of Garrett’s favorite perceived landing spots was the Washington Commanders. Coming off a 12-5 season and making it to the NFC championship game in quarterback Jayden Daniels’ first season, Washington is viewed much differently around the NFL.
At the Super Bowl, Garrett smiled when asked about the Commanders and said the following.
“Absolutely,” Garrett responded when ESPN’s Mina Kimes asked if the Commanders would appeal to him. “I mean, he (Daniels) looked great. I mean, he looked great when we played them. But, he really showed his behind when he was in the playoffs. And, you know, he’s really done it and been very composed, you know, throughout the entire season, and he can only continue to flourish and, you know, keep his head down and continue to work.”
So, it’s no surprise that according to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Commanders (+300) are the favorite for Garrett’s next team. But it’s the team behind Washington that should concern them. The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have the second-best odds of landing Garrett (+450).
Garrett’s current team is third.
Could you imagine if the Eagles were able to land Garrett? Philadelphia already has the NFL’s best roster, and being able to add Garrett would certainly impact Washington’s chances of potentially closing the gap in the NFC East.
Garrett said this is not a demand to gain a new contract from the Browns. This is all about winning. Garrett’s situation should be one of the NFL’s most interesting storylines leading up to the 2025 NFL draft in April.
