Washington will head into the 2025 offseason with a lot of holes to fill. For a team that made it all the way to the NFC Championship came, the Commanders are now considered by many to be “contenders”. Contenders want to maximize the window for them to contend, so many assume Adam Peters will be aggressive in the offseason filling these holes with longer-term impact players.
The Commanders are certainly not barren of talent; however, the pieces they do have in place (with the exception of quarterback) will require another added piece or two to truly put them into the “contender” category.
Below are key players (and some overhauls) that could use another good running mate or two. I have also listed some players who Peters can target and where we could look to get them. For the NFL Draft, I have only projected prospects inside the top 100 for Washington.

Commanders New-Look Roster
Offense:
QB – Jayden Daniels
RB – Breece Hall (Trade)/Brian Robinson
WR – Terry McLaurin
WR – Tre Harris (RD1)
WR – Deebo Samuel (FA)
TE – Zach Ertz/Ben Sinnott
LT – Ronnie Stanley (FA)
LG – Brandon Coleman
C – Tyler Biadasz
RG – Sam Cosmi/Andrew Wylie
RT – Emery Jones (RD2)
Defense:
EDGE – Josh Sweat (FA)
DT – Daron Payne
DT – Jon Allen/Jer’Zhan Newton
EDGE – Dorance Armstrong
LB – Nick Bolton (FA)
LB – Frankie Luvu
Hybrid LB/S – Jeremy Chinn
CB – Marshon Lattimore
CB – Kristian Fulton (FA)/Denzel Burke (RD3)
Slot – Mike Sainristil
S – Quan Martin
S – Talanoa Hufanga (FA)
In this scenario, I have added 10 new players – five on offense and five on defense and re-signed two of our own free agents. There will obviously be other free agent moves and later round draft picks to add depth to the roster, but overall, I think a plan like the one above (or similar) would vastly improve this roster.
