Poll questions!!
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Washington Commanders fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in regular email surveys.
With veteran free agency largely in the rearview mirror and the draft less than a month away, it seems like a good time for a survey that looks back at what the Commanders did to develop the roster in March and what they should do next to develop the roster in April.
Washington currently has 74 players under contract for 2025. With 5 draft picks in hand, there will still be another 11 roster spots that are likely to go to undrafted college free agents, but which could also be filled by additional draft picks acquired through trade, or even late veteran free agent additions.
In any event, today we look at the Commanders roster with a critical eye by answering three questions in our Reacts survey.
Questions One and Two
We open up by listing nine veterans that have been added to the Commanders roster since the beginning of March. These are all players who were not on the Commanders roster last season.
One of them — WR Michael Gallup — was not on any NFL roster last regular season. Gallup did not play in the NFL in 2024 after announcing his retirement, but now he’s back. He follows in the footsteps of defensive lineman Eddie Goldman, who retired from the NFL before the 2022 season, and sat out two years before un-retiring and making a comeback with the Falcons last season. I wonder if any other NFL team can boast two un-retired players on its roster?
Two of these veterans were acquired in trade. The trade for WR Deebo Samuel was reported relatively early in the process, while the decision to trade for LT Laremy Tunsil was reported after the Ravens announced that they had re-signed their impending free agent tackle, Ronnie Stanley.
In our first question today, we ask which of these nine players you are most excited to see added to the Commanders roster. In the second question, we ask which of these players excites you the least.
Question Three
In Q3, we turn the page from free agency to the upcoming draft by asking what you want the team to do with the 29th overall pick in the draft. The list of possible options is far from exhaustive; if you don’t see your preferred option, feel free to just skip the question and express your outrage in the comments section.
Comments & Results
Speaking of the comments sections, we of course, invite you to answer the survey questions below, but also hope you feel free to expand on your answers and provide nuance in the comments section that follows. I rely on those comments when discussing the results of the survey when they are posted in a separate article in a few days.
