Injury updates
The Washington Commanders are preparing for their Wild Card Weekend rematch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They held their last full practice of the week, today, and they will travel to Florida tomorrow. Dan Quinn gave some injury updates after practice today, and said that CB Marshon Lattimore will play against the Bucs on Sunday night. This will be a big boost for Washington’s defense, and will give him another chance to match up against WR Mike Evans. Lattimore has missed the last two games after aggravating a hamstring injury that has forced him to miss 6 out of his 8 games with Washington. He had a vet rest day today.
Washington only ruled out one player, and he’s not even on the active roster. TE Colson Yankoff has been on IR for a hamstring injury for the last two months, but he returned to practice this week. His 21-day practice window was opened on Wednesday, and he will get another chance to return next week if the Commanders advance to the divisional round of the playoffs.
Jamison Crowder is the only player listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game. He has been limited all week with a hamstring injury. If Crowder can’t play, K.J. Osborne could get an opportunity against the Buccaneers. Washington’s top 3 WRs are still Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, and Olamide Zaccheaus, but Osborne could get his first target since getting claimed off waivers from the Patriots.
Everyone else on this week’s injury report will be good to go for Washington’s first playoff game since 2020. Jayden Daniels was pulled from the season finale at half time in favor of backup Marcus Mariota. Dan Quinn cited “leg soreness” which was labeled a quad injury. He’s been a full participant all week, and said he would have returned to play if needed against the Cowboys.
Three players were limited today, but they’re all ready to play this week. Dan Quinn said that TE John Bates and LB Frankie Luvu were wearing non-contact jerseys in practice today to protect them from themselves. Defensive end Clelin Ferrell has been doing weekly maintenance on a knee injury since training camp, and that continued today with another limited practice.
Daniels gets some more good news from the health of his offensive line. Center Tyler Biadasz has been sorely missed since leaving the Falcons game with an ankle injury. Backup Michael Deiter has been getting abused, and hopefully won’t need to play a snap during the playoffs. Backup OT Cornelius Lucas(groin) also missed last week’s game, and he’ll be available on Sunday. Rookie LT Brandon Coleman was estimated as limited with a knee injury on Wednesday, but was a full participant the last two days.
