Dan Quinn speaks to the media before practice
Dan Quinn spoke to the media on Monday and declared that “Jayden [Daniels] is not injured right now”, but went on to talk about how lack of ‘banked’ practice reps limitations in practice due to the challenges of managing the short week ahead of the Thursday night game in Philly may have affected the rookie QB’s play. Quinn reiterated on Monday that he was “looking forward to getting a full week of our practice and work the things that we need to.”
Today was a day to address a number of issues related to the health of Jayden Daniels and others, and to discuss the upcoming opponent, the 3-7 Dallas Cowboys.

DQ started out by discussing the importance of getting back to a ‘normal’ schedule after having to accommodate Thursday Night Football last week. He then reiterated some of the key points he had made on Monday about the effect of last week’s practice limitations on rookie QB Jayden Daniels and the rest of the team.
Quinn gave injury updates on a number of players, starting with Marshon Lattimore, whom Quinn said was working on the side today. He also updated K Austin Seibert and the OL (see tweets below).
Coach Quinn was asked about bringing some of the veteran players to the team who had played for him in the past, and DQ addressed the benefit of bringing them to Washington to help establish the new era of Washington football under Quinn.
He answered some scheme-related questions and inquiries about his familiarity with Dallas players and coaches. Quinn, of course, spoke positively about those players and coaches, avoiding any ‘bulletin board material’.
Asked about the extra days of rest and the impact on the team, Dan Quinn said that there was ‘definitely a difference’ and talked about the energy level being higher. He is clearly happy to be back onto the team’s normal routine. He spent time talking about the process last week followed by some poor execution on Thursday night.
He talked about the value of the break for coaches as well, and also addressed the team’s self-scouting and how the coaching staff works to constantly adjust schemes and personnel usage or tendencies to stay ahead of competitors.
Quinn was asked about the balance between promoting good play, but correcting the big plays that the team has given up in recent games. Quinn stressed the need to ‘tell the truth’ and ‘becoming battle tested’ by playing tough teams and experiencing tough times.
DQ addressed what he was looking for from Jayden Daniels this week and his answer offered no surprises as he discussed a punchlist of items that were pretty much identical to what he has said in every press conference this season.
Asked specifically about veteran safety Jeremy Chinn, Quinn was effusive about the player’s tackling and ability to play man-to-man coverage and said that he was “incredibly proud” of Chinn. DQ added some words of praise for Chinn’s partner, 2nd year safety Quan Martin, highlighting their communication and teamwork.
