Daniels scrambled twice to move the ball to the Lions 9-yard line, 3rd & 3, but couldn’t find Zaccheaus on the 3rd down play.
With 4th & 3, Dan Quinn, of course, left his offense on the field. Daniels hit Zach Ertz in the middle of the field at the 5 yard line, and he ended up at the Detroit 2-yard line, 1st & goal.
Jayden Daniels converts ANOTHER 4th down, this time to Ertz to setup 1st and goal from the 2 yard line.

Daniels missed a wide open John Bates for what would have been a walk-in TD on first down, then lost a yard running the ball right on 2nd down.
On 3rd & goal from the 3-yard line, Daniels targeted McLaurin on a fade to the right corner of the end zone, but a defensive pass interference flag was thrown as Terry rolled on the ground. 1st & goal from the 1-yard line.
DPI against Terry McLaurin on 3rd down and goal, and the #Commanders will get a new set of downs from the 1 yard line.

On the third offensive play of the drive, 1st & 10 at the Washington 41-yard line, I looked at the formation and knew the play call before the snap.
That didn’t matter, because Daniels hit McClaurin on a receiver screen behind the LOS to the left. Terry split his blockers, broke a tackle, and raced 59 yards for a huge touchdown!!

The Lions fans at Ford Field sat in stunned silence as Commanders fans cheered. The difference in this game has been two turnovers — a fumble and interception each charged to Goff.
Jared Goff was blown up by Frankie Luvu on the INT play and went to the locker room.
Teddy Bridgewater, Goff’s backup, came out to run the offense, starting a the 27-yard line after a short return.
He did the right thing by handing the ball to and then throwing short to Jahmyr Gibbs for a first down. On the TV coverage, Goff was shown coming back to the field just as Jamison Williams took the ball on a reverse and ran 61 yards untouched for a huge touchdown run to get the Lions back in the game!!

Austin Ekeler got 8 yards on a run up the middle, followed by a 15-yard scamper by Daniels on 2nd down to quiet the crowd for a moment — but only a moment. They were full-throated by the time the next play was called.
On 2nd & 8 from the DET 45-yard line, Daniels, with great protection, went deep for Dyami Brown, who hauled in a perfect pass against good coverage for a 38-yard gain to the Lions 6-yard line as the 2-minute warning was given.

Following the timeout, the Commanders faced 1st & goal at the 6 with a chance to extend the lead before halftime. With 45 points on the board already, people who bet the “over” seem to be in pretty good shape at the moment.
Two plays later, Washington faced 3rd & goal from the 5 yard line. On the 3rd down play, Zach Ertz went in motion and ran a simple route. Daniels had plenty of time and hit the TE one-yard deep in the end zone for a workmanlike touchdown play.
