Multiple teams view Saints free agent cornerback Paulson Adebo as top-tier this upcoming offseason. According to Jeremy Fowler, New Orleans probably won’t bring back Adebo since everyone expects him to have a heavy interest market. The Saints won’t be able to retain Adebo since they don’t have the financial resources so it’s safe to say he will be in a new uniform next season. What’s interesting is Fowler mentions Adebo will land a big contract even though he’s coming off a brutal season-ending injury.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the cornerback had a notable 2023 season before his production slowed down the following year. Top healthy free agents typically land bigger contracts and Fowler suggests Adebo will be one of them. It will be interesting to see what type of contract Adebo receives but many teams are looking at him to no surprise since they’ve seen the success Marshon Lattimore had with the Washington Commanders since leaving New Orleans. This isn’t to say he will have the same output as Lattimore but he has a good chance to carve out a starting role with a new team and exceed expectations on week one.
Adebo made it clear he wants to test free agency and see what’s out there. If the case still remains and the Saints don’t have the money, it would be a huge blow to their secondary. However, despite missing the rest of the season, he put in 52 tackles, one tackle for loss and three interceptions. Teams like the Chargers, Commanders should be one of multiple teams generating interest in him.

Rebuilding Harbaugh’s Secondary
The Los Angeles Chargers came into the 2024 campaign with plenty of bright spots on both offense and defense. The pass defense held its end of the bargain while the offense was struggling in the passing game. However, that all came to an end in the wild-card round since C.J. Stroud was able to find their weakness. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh may want to restructure the passing game for quarterback Justin Herbert but that can’t happen unless they prioritize fixing the secondary too.
Kristian Fulton is an impending free agent they must re-sign to a new contract after surprising a lot of people with production after signing a one-year contract. Meanwhile, Tarheeb Still and Cam Hart have a lot of promise but they’re still figuring out the league and how they can make an impact. Paulson Adebo should be on top of their list and they could be a team willing to give him big-time money since they have the finances for it. Adebo next Fulton would solve the starting depth for this team’s secondary.
Reunion with Lattimore?
There’s a good chance that Adebo could reunite with Lattimore as long as the Commanders can figure out a way to extend him. Washington came into the 2024 campaign with a lot of promise on offense but with a struggling secondary, it was a reason why the team had to release Emmanuel Forbes from the lineup. He wasn’t doing anything to assist Benjamin St-Juste but the trade of Lattimore made the difference.
The Commanders have the money at $63 million to pull off an Adebo signing. Pairing him with Lattimore would get the secondary more fiery. The chemistry was on point in New Orleans with a struggling organization and the sky is the limit in Washington with their ownership change so they could see a lot of success if they pull this off.
