The Maryland Women’s Basketball team improved to 5-0 after defeating Towson 98-63. This game also featured a few special moments.
The Key Focuses
Maryland dominated on the glass
From the tip, Maryland controlled the tempo especially on the glass. 46 total rebounds, 32 of them were defensive, and credit that with Maryland’s size and defensive strategies which threw Towson off their game plan. Christina Dalce led the way with 10 rebounds as she has her third double-double in five games. The Tigers only mustered 18 rebounds. Just alone in the first half Maryland had 25 rebounds opposed to Towson’s 8 rebounds.
The Assist to Turnover improved some
Maryland had 27 assists to 17 turnovers. The ball movement was highly crucial in the victory against Towson. Through the first five games, you can see how the ball movement is getting better. The half-court offense needs to be better at the time, as well as how the ball moves at times. There is a bit of carelessness, but it is early in the season.
Towson will get better
Towson is a team that is coming together. As they continue to grow this season, there is a lot of confidence and potential. Their losses aren’t because they are not playing well. It is simply growth, and it will show as the season progresses. The Tigers won the second quarter of the game with their offense. India Johnston led the Tigers with 22 points.
A MUCH-needed break Sunday’s game was the fourth game in ten days for the Lady Terps’ as their schedule at the start of the season was front loaded. Their next game is Sunday November 24th as they take on the Saint Francis Red Flash at the Xfinity Center 1:00.
