For the last nine games, Maryland’s women’s basketball has seen a lot. There is still plenty of basketball, but this Saturday is the moment we’ve been waiting for. BIG TEN Play. Arguably, one of the best coaches in college basketball, Brenda Frese always knows how to prepare for moments like this.
Maryland’s first Big Ten conference opponent is the Purdue Boilermakers. This is a true test for the Terps. Let’s preview the matchup!
The Keys To Victory!
Our first road test trip
Most will point to the record last season, but again, understand the roster construction, injuries, and inconsistency sometimes. Maryland finished 3-6 against conference play. But again, this Purdue finished 12th last season. Plenty of conference play to shut down the noise about winning on the road.
Maryland vs Purdue is different this year
Both teams have little tape on each other, as they are different from last season. So, it will be interesting to see the matchups throughout the game for both opponents.
Three Pointing Shooting Vs. Defense
Maryland’s three-point shooting will improve as the season progresses. In the last three games, the offense has focused on post-to-the-basket, and Maryland made only eight three-pointers. Most have been good looks, just falling when they need to. The Boilermakers defensively are still trying to figure things out, as they allow 71 points a game. Here is an interesting stat: Purdue allowed #4, South Carolina, and #6 Notre Dame to score 99 points or more in their victories.
