It has come to my attention, yet again, that the general public needs a reminder about how the national media views your team. It’s easy to think that the people in the booth hate your team, hate your players and hate you. That’s just flat out incorrect and irresponsible thinking. I’m going to say this loud and clear so there’s no misunderstanding me:
NOBODY IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA HATES YOUR TEAM. Except maybe Rex Ryan and the Patriots.
Seriously though, Troy Aikman, Joe Buck, Chris Collinsworth, Mike Tirico, hell even Scott Van Pelt in postgame coverages. They don’t hate your team! Why would they? Take a look at who remains after Saturday’s Divisional games:
Baltimore – You don’t think the media wants to slurp up the presumed MVP of the regular season? The narrative around Lamar has been his struggles to win in the playoffs. Every media company around would LOVE the chance to talk about him overcoming his previous struggles. Nothing to hate about this team.
San Francisco – Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy, aka Mr. Irrelevant. Seems pretty obvious how nobody in the media would hate the 49ers winning it all.
Kansas City – Patrick Mahomes continues his quest to be the next Brady.
Buffalo – Josh Allen is a media darling and Buffalo will FINALLY get a Super Bowl.
Tampa Bay – Baker Mayfield redemption? Todd Bowles getting legitimized? Seems fair to me that people would love this story.
Detroit – It’s Detroit… so duh.
When people post about other teams, or don’t spend the entire time shoving flowers all over your team, it doesn’t mean they hate them. It just means they have something else to talk about. They don’t hate your team. Can’t accept that? Fight me.
