Tress’s back!
Multiple sources have reported that Tress Way, Washington’s longest-tenured player, will return in 2025.
Commanders agreed to one-year deal with Tress Way, sources tell me, bringing back the 2x Pro Bowler for a 12th year. Easy decision for a well respected player. pic.twitter.com/zJsPE1D5Vg

Easy call. Good punter and important presence in the locker room and on the kicking unit, where there was a lot of turnover last year. https://t.co/ayk9FDY9mV

Tress Way’s return was a priority for the Commanders. He’s punted at a high level since joining the team in 2014. He’s been with 3 coaching staffs. Now back for another year for $2.8 million.

While Way has been one of the league’s best punters since 2014, last season he failed to punt in 3 of Washington’s 20 games in the regular season and playoffs due to the team’s high level of offensive efficiency, instead, having to earn his pay as a reliable holder for field goals and extra point attempts.
He is also well known for having thrown for more yards in an NFC Championship game than Dak Prescott.
The value of the contract is $2.8 million; his previous contract had an average annual value of about $3.25m.
This move ensures that the Commanders have another key position locked up, and another popular player returning in 2025.

- John Bates – 3 year extension
