Yet another year of unabated draft contest excitement
The 2025 Pick-5 draft prediction contest was yet another installment in the history of the annual Hogs Haven draft extravaganza which, for eight years, was known as the Pick-3 draft prediction contest.
After setting an all-time record in 2024 with 98 entrants, the contest fell back to earth slightly this year with 67 entrants.
A year ago, Panamon28 won the 2024 version of the Pick-3 contest and Waltdeez took 2nd place with just 3 points separating them.
This year, Panamon28 becomes the first-ever repeat champion and the first ever co-champion, tied with Hog4Lyfe, with each scoring 34 points. Meanwhile, Waltdeez again finishes with the silver medal, tied at 29 points with MattinBrisVegas.
The twenty highest-scoring entrants are listed below.
As always, if I have made a mistake in anyone’s score, please feel free to let me know in the comments or via email and I will adjust your score with apologies. I use a spreadsheet and rely on manual scanning to identify correct answers as my supercomputer is in the shop for repair this week, and mistakes are possible with 67 entrants making 35 predictions each.
A few notes about the scores achieved in this year’s contest:
- 55 entrants got on the scoreboard — no mean feat in a year when the Commanders were picking 29th in such an unpredictable draft
- COLT_FOURTY_FIVE led all entrants in the number of players predicted; he listed four of the five players that Washington drafted but his scoring was limited because he predicted the correct round only for Josh Conerly. The only Commanders draft pick he didn’t list was the team’s 7th round pick, Jacory Croskey-Merritt
- Five entrants — the gold medal winnners + lcfcstephen, BarNunn and AnacostiaDreamer— correctly predicted three of the Commanders’ five draft picks
- Five entrants (the gold and silver medal winners + dacrock) correctly predicted 2 players in the correct round.
- 12 entrants predicted the 7th round pick(Crosky-Merritt); of those, the top-7 scorers in the contest also correctly predicted the round in which he was drafted
I want to thank all 67 Hogs Haven readers who took the time to put together entries for the Pick-5 contest. It literally couldn’t have happened without you. I hope you had fun and that it added just a little extra spice to your 2025 NFL Draft experience.
As always, the prize for winning this contest is an open invitation to a night out on the town in beautiful Bangkok, Thailand. All Panamon28 or Hog4Lyfe needs to do is get himself to Bangkok (with at least a week’s advance notice) and I will pay for a night of drinks (I guess I now owe Panamon28 two nights) at the bar(s) of his choice. To date, none of the previous winners have claimed their prizes, but they remain valid. The prizes expire when I do.
With five total picks in the 2025 draft, the Washington Commanders added talent to their roster and took another huge step forward in building atop the success achieved in the 2024 season.
The roster-building work isn’t done, however. I look forward to seeing which UDFAs and veteran free agents the team adds in the coming days and weeks as we prepare for another entertaining offseason and another great season of Washington football to follow!
