Jamin Davis’ time in Washington has come to an end. After 50 games and 282 tackles in three-and-a-half seasons, the Commanders released the 2021 first-round pick.
Davis’ departure was confirmed in a press release from the team, along with Washington signing a couple of players to the practice squad. The linebacker-turned-defensive end appeared in five of the Commanders’ seven games this season but played only 86 defensive snaps — 30% of the team’s overall defensive snaps.
Davis is the third former Ron Rivera first-round draft pick to depart before his rookie contract’s expiration. The Commanders traded Chase Young last season and Jahan Dotson this summer ahead of the season.
As you might expect, Twitter had thoughts. Mostly about Rivera’s drafting record during his four years in Washington. Here are some of the top reactions from Tuesday’s news.
