Tyler Owens stock continues to rise
Commanders rookie safety Tyler Owens has unquestionably impacted Washington’s special teams and defense throughout training camp and preseason, and he has one more game this Sunday against the New England Patriots to stamp himself as a member of the initial 53-man roster. The undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech has a long way to go before becoming an impactful defensive player when the games count, but the Commanders can use him on special teams immediately. His instincts, physicality, and effort have increased his stock and certainly generated some conversation about whose roster spot he’d be taking. We discussed Owens on the latest Trap or Dive podcast, specifically how he stood out defensively against the Miami Dolphins and if his roster spot is tied to Jeremy Reaves or someone else.
